A Corpus Christ native, Rock Benavides played five consecutive NCAA Division I seasons. She started her collegiate career at Florida State University in 2017. During her time as a Seminole, she won a 2018 National Championship and two ACC Conference Championships. In 2019 Rock transferred back home to become the starting short stop at the University of Houston where she would start every game for three straight seasons. Rock was described by teammates and coaches as passionate, competitive, energetic, and often referred to by commentators as the “heartbeat” of the team. Since her official retirement in May of 2022, Benavides has moved back to Corpus Christi with dreams and aspirations of helping develop young athletes in her community. She is eager to bring her 20 years of knowledge and experience to the coaching side of the game. She is passionate and excited about growing the game of softball in South Texas.

Tryouts

Twelve tryouts for Youth (8u-12u) and Junior High (13u/14u) teams in South Texas are held annually during the summer and winter months. For up-to-date information on tryout dates, times, and locations, please visit our Tryouts page. Please note that player sanctioning ages for the upcoming 2023-2024 season is determined by player age as of January 1, 2024.

Camps and Training

We provide seasonal developmental camps, programs, and strength training for members and non-members at each of our six branch locations. Our coaches and trainers focus specifically on the development of fundamentals, skill, and strength to help maximize players’ potential and prepare their bodies for the demands of high-level performance.
